MAC Lima
Founded in 2013 in Lima, Peru
Directed by Álvaro Roca-Rey
Promoted by the Institute of Contemporary Art (Instituto of Arte Contemporáneo – IAC), the Lima’s Contemporary Art Museum puts the leading manifestations of national and international art within the reach of the community through its collection, temporary exhibitions and a variety of educational and cultural programs.
MAC Lima mainly contains works of Latin American and European artists, which were obtained beginning in the 1950s. The collection covers abstract expressionism, geometric art, constructivism, conceptual art, optical art and pieces influenced by surrealism and pop art, in addition to works dating from the last few decades.
With support from the Heritage Committee, the collection is expanding to offer a significant array of Peruvian and Latin American art.
