Jaime Iregui
Born in 1956 in Bogotá, Colombia
Lives and works in Bogotá
Space is Jaime Iregui’s artistic proposal main interest. During the last years his work has approached an extended conception of the space in practices related to the processes of exhibition and discussion in the public sphere.
He has a Master’s Degree in History and Theory of Art and Architecture (Universidad Nacional). He has created with other artists independent discussion and exhibition spaces such as Magma (1985-87), Gaula (1990-91), Tandem (1993-98), Espacio Vacío (1997-2003) and Esfera Pública.
He has participated in several international meetings, among them, the 1st International Meeting of Independent Spaces in Marseille, France, The Fifth Encuentro Trama in Buenos Aires, and in 2007 he participated as editor of [esferapública] in Documenta 12 in the project documenta magazines.
With the Parlamentos project currently he encourage spaces for discussion in the public space. He is an associate professor at the Universidad de los Andes, he is the editor of [esferapública] a discussion web space that promotes reflection, dialogue and debate of artistic and institutional practices, as well as highlights the contemporary independent artistic processes.
