Gustavo Acosta
Born in 1958 in La Habana, Cuba
Lives and works in Miami, USA
The urban images present in my work are derived from the everyday, ordinary visual perspective. I strive to integrate these into a new (and not always clear) system, in which signs of ubiquity and temporality imitate the arbitrary procedures through which our minds and memories distort and magnify personal expectations and priorities. Through the use of these ideas, I can manipulate the pictorial illusion to create a form of visual fiction.
