Marie Orensanz – In volution
Septembre 6th – Octobre 27th, 2012
School Galery, Paris
“Marie Orensanz, Franco-Argentine artist born in 1936, is one of the leading figures of the South American art scene in the last 40 years. Her work is part of important international collections.
With her imaginary semiotics, full of signs and symbols, Marie Orensanz builds shortcuts to the mind, to the heart. All her work resembles a mapping of points of view and free perspectives. It outlines, in the manner of an architect, sensitive poetic plans and concepts. She draws formulas with a mathematical look that incorporates unknown and blank spaces, secrets. Marie shows previews, excerpts from which the soul is tangled of narrative absences, wandering and sudden agitation.
On sheets of paper, she creates hills, chances, pitfalls. She puts terrain, curves, peaks. And travel is made in the creases formal and interior. She passes inside to get against the idea of a permanent immobility and programed conclusion. Marie Orensanz envelope in its territories, other jurisdictions, access, deadlocks, senses, clean and figurative. In her work, life is like an expedition that never seems to end, the road that we follow, always straying.”
