El Mentidero

Founded in Bogotá, Colombia 2013

El Mentidero is a home in downtown Bogotá. It is content and container-bucket and water at the same time. An exhibition space for non-productive merchandise, selling religious artifacts for non-believers, a set for unrelated relationships. Market without marketing. Use and disuse. One for all, all for one.

Strategically located in its place, El Mentidero closes its doors to some and others and is inhabited by insatiable and problematic artists, masses eager of hay and poison, chefs with PhDs, broke students and broken teachers. Behind these doors a new school is being formed, without grades and without degrees but with toga and lots of class.

El Mentidero works in projects where the main goal is the cultural exchange; the reflection and the social dialogue through art .
Aimed to reach all kinds of public and initiated not long ago as the Mercadito now reborn as Mercadito & Mentidero, an initiative that seeks to share and soak culture and art through a itinerant trolly moving around cities.
In the same way The Lechona Art Institute aims to create teaching moments in a way where the boundaries between public and creator / creation blur themselves, providing a space for critic, fun and self-dependent learning.
On the other hand Ping Pong, it’s a place opened to propose dialogue and conversation among artists and general participants to dinners organised once a month where they share, live and eat cultural exchange in a creative environment.
