Marcos Zimmermann was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1950. He studied cinematography at the Instituto Nacional de Cinematografía in Buenos Aires and started his professional career as still photographer of feature films. For several years he lived in Rome, where he worked as a freelance photographer and held exhibitions in different countries of Europe. Since 1989 he has worked in Argentina, in the publication of twelve books of photographs which explore the identity of his country. These books have made Marcos Zimmermann a relevant figure in Argentine photography at this moment. His work is currently exhibited in different museums and galleries that have acquired his work in Argentina, Peru, Japan, France, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Naetherlands, Italy and the United States.
