Joaquin Segura
Born in 1980 in Mexico City
Lives and works in Guadalajara, Mexico
Joaquin Segura’s highly‐diverse oeuvre meditates on violence as an omnipresent motif in contemporary life. His recent production is visibly concerned about the nature of power & political apparatuses nowadays, constructing a practice deeply fascinated by the fissures & contradictions in extreme ideologies and the crucial role these have played in the globalization of socio-political crisis, mainly explored through constant references to specific historical events. Through his unpredictable works, Segura aims to reach an art of destabilization, elaborating a poetic of sabotage through apparently random acts of provocation, which relate to impotence, denial & deception, here and now.
