“Beauty has a great quality: it expands the soul. I deeply believe in an art that lifts us spiritually and cognitively.
David’s new photography reaches this dimension. They are fragments of a reality that he has emptied of narrative) and history, (as Jorge Fernandez once told him) by modifying scale, angle or orientation. Thus, these images lose all links to their original reality, retaining only what is essential, what has always had an invisible side, something that is beyond these fragments: the capacity of expansion that viewers may have.
They also incite viewers to be more aware of the world, to keep focusing on its most beautiful side… an act completely necessary in these times.
These works also look like paintings: the reality itself has already composed a truly pictorial work. Then why imitate it with pencils, oil, watercolors?
We could call them “found paintings”.”
