Colombia – La Guerra que no hemos visto
11.10/2015 – 06.03/2016
Musée d’Aquitaine, Bordeaux, France
Since 2007 and for two years, Juan Manuel Echavarría invited war actors to participate in painting workshops, giving them the necessary supplies to tell abouttheir experience of the conflict. This project became La guerra que no hemos visto, an exhibition initially presented in the Museum of Modern Art in Bogota and other Colombian cities, in Miami, Göteborg and Rio de Janeiro.
In Bordeaux, around thirty paintings are accompanied by a serie of tapestries done by afro-descendants from the North of Colombia who were displaced following a massacre, and by photographs and videos by Juan Manuel Echavarría showing the remains of schools in Colombian villages deserted because of the war.
The exhibition is organized by the Musée d’Aquitaine, in collaboration with the Puntos de Encuentro foundation.
